Our Head Coach. He is a former USSR team
member, world cup finalist, and champion in the team event with silver
and bronze as well. He has coached national teams for both the United
States and Mexico and is the proud father of two nationally ranked
daughters. His students include national team members, world
championship competitors, as well as Pan American and World Cup
medalists.
Aaron
Stuewe
Our Saber coach and fencing club manager, has been fencing for
sixteen years and has been trained by four Olympic coaches. He has
extensive experience teaching fencing to all ages. While competing for
Penn State, Aaron was a three time Saber NCAA All-American and three
time NCAA Team Champion. He is also the Volunteer Assistant Saber Coach
for Northwestern University's NCAA Women's Saber Team.
Ed
Kaihatsu
The Fencing Club President, fenced for the University of
Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. A Big Ten Champion in the individual and
team event and NCAA 1st Team All-American, he was also on four US World
Championship Teams. He is a three time U.S. National Veterans Foil
Champion and once in Sabre. He has earned an International ‘A’ Rating
in Foil since 1981 and holds an International Referee License. Ed is
currently the Associate Head Fencing Coach at Northwestern University.
He has been coaching there since 1989.
